Tom Wheeler Named Keynote Speaker for MMA Forum
The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), a leading global trade association for the mobile industry, has announced that Tom Wheeler will deliver the keynote address at The MMA Forum New York, June 11th through 13th, 2012.
Wheeler’s keynote address is entitled “Video Anywhere: How Mobile Video Is Changing Consumer Engagement”. He will follow up by moderating an Expert Roundtable on Mobile’s Impact on the Future of Video & Television.
MMA says that consumer demand for video is growing, and 2012 mobile ad spend is mirroring this trend; as 52% of US marketers planned to allocate up to 24% of their spend to video, up nearly 27% from 2011, according to ValueClick. In addition, half of US marketers plan to buy mobile video ads this year.
Tom Wheeler (pictured above) is managing director of Core Capital Partners. He was president of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) from 1979 to 1984.
After several years as CEO of new technology start-ups, including the first company to offer high-speed delivery of data to home computers and the first digital video delivery service, he served as CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), 1992-2004.
Currently he is chairman of the UN Foundation’s mHealth Alliance as well as chairing the U.S. State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy as well as the Federal Communications Commission’s Technology Advisory Council.
