What Is CIO’s Role in Enterprise of the Future?

As most chief information officers (CIOs) are not able to keep pace with the changing tech scenario led by Web, mobile, and social technologies, they are already at sea about their current roles in the changing enterprise culture.

But 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium aims to examine CIO’s transformational role in architecting the enterprise of the future. Strange but true.

What can the CIO do to lead the transformation and realize the opportunities that are coming? The Symposium aims to address this complex issue.

Now in its tenth year, the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium (http://www.mitcio.com) is a one-day conference, held on the MIT campus, where over 800 CIOs and senior business executives from around the world meet to discuss various issues of import.

“Now more than ever, the CIO must be nimble and navigate not only the technology playing field, but the entire changing business enterprise,” said Kathleen Tetrault, the 2013 MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Chair.

The Symposium features more than a dozen keynote presentations and interactive panel discussions with business leaders, technology trendsetters, and thought leaders from academia.

Some of the topics to be addressed include: “The Reality of Big Data,” “Leapfrog the Competition: Enable a Smarter, Nimble Enterprise,” “The Evolving Cloud Agenda,” “Healthcare Innovations through Information and Process Re-design,” and “Competitive Advantages through Social Business.”

The Symposium will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Eastern time at Kresge Auditorium on the MIT campus (77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA).

Additionally, the Symposium’s Innovation Showcase will feature 10 early-stage companies that are providing innovative and valuable IT solutions. It will be open to the public from 6:15 – 8:00 p.m. on May 22, 2013.
