How to Deposit Your Checks Anytime, Anywhere

Here’s a new application for customers who find it difficult to visit bank branches for getting different services.

ING DIRECT, in its first launch of a new service with Capital One, has unveiled CheckMate – a free remote deposit capture technology that enables customers to use their iPhone or Android mobile device, and digital camera to deposit checks into their checking or savings account.

CheckMate simplifies the check deposit process, putting a convenient deposit solution at consumers’ fingertips, says ING DIRECT.

Meanwhile, leading global financial services company Citi has launched its first banking app designed exclusively for Kindle Fire. The Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition) app promises to provide U.S. consumers with a visually engaging, convenient way to track, analyze and plan their finances on the go. While banks and tech companies are focusing on mobile banking, a new study reveals that a majority (94 percent) of U.S. consumers says that banking on their mobile device is easy and more than three quarters (77 percent) feel it is convenient, but only 42 percent cite that it is reliable. “Saving time and money are top priorities for most busy Americans,” said Jim Kelly, head of Direct Bank, ING DIRECT USA. “Enabling Customers to quickly and securely deposit money at home or on the go is just another way ING DIRECT streamlines the banking process.”

ING DIRECT’s CheckMate gives customers the flexibility and convenience to deposit checks anytime and from anywhere. By simply snapping a picture of a check, customers can directly deposit money into their Electric Orange checking, Orange Savings Account, MONEY account, or Kids Savings Account in the following two ways:

ING DIRECT iPhone or Android app – To make a deposit, customers can simply take a picture of their check with their iPhone or Android device and the money goes straight to their ING DIRECT account.

CheckMate Image Upload – Customers can use any smartphone or digital camera to capture an image of both sides of their check and save it to their computer. After the image is saved, they sign in to their account through ING DIRECT’s secure website and upload the images to complete their deposit.
