Just a couple of days after his inauguration as the U.S. President, Donald Trump has announced an ambitious artificial intelligence (AI) project named Stargate, which is supposed to create over 100,000 jobs in the U.S.
Trump made the Stargate announcement at a special press conference at the White House. The team that will support Trump in the project includes Sam Altman, founder of ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son.
It is expected that Nvidia and a few more companies may also join Stargate, which aims to be the largest AI infrastructure project in the world.
According to a White House statement of January 22, 2025, “President Trump has unveiled a $500 BILLION American AI investment alongside tech leaders Larry Ellison, Masayoshi Son, and Sam Altman, set to create 100,000 American jobs almost immediately!”

In a detailed statement on January 22, 2025, OpenAI said, “This project will not only support the re-industrialization of the United States but also provide a strategic capability to protect the national security of America and its allies.”
With an initial investment of $100 billion, massive physical and virtual infrastructure will be built under Stargate to power the next generation of AI platforms. Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison informed that Stargate’s first one-million square-feet data centre is already under construction in Texas.
Although Twitter (now called X) boss Elon Musk supported Trump in his presidential campaign, Trump did not include him in the Stargate team. Currently, Musk is working as an Administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration.
In fact, DOGE is not yet a formal federal executive department and requires the approval of the U.S. Congress to make it an official wing under the Trump administration.
