Tech Startup Summit Opens in India
|India’s information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad unveiled a series of new initiatives by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in the first MeitY Startup Summit held in New Delhi on Monday (October 21).
Speaking on the occasion, the minister stressed that there is a great maturity of the movement called ‘Digital India’ under the leadership of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. He gave the mantra of “Reform, perform, transform” as the key focus areas for the government.
In India’s journey of transformation, technology is playing a big role, he said, adding that Digital India, Make in India, Startup India, Smart Cities are all technology-based programs designed to reform the governance in India.
Stressing the importance of startups he said that if India has to grow it can’t do without startups. He said that steps are being taken to include startups in the e-procurement portal of the Government of India.
